ATTACHMENT AND NON- ATTACHMENT – Part II
 (Article # : DRSAUSA_June2006)

We will find that now a days Yoga or meditation is very famous through out the world. Today we are more disturbed due to our much attachment to the worldly affairs like various types of attraction, fond, enjoyments, like and dislike, choice, favor, money, work, family and especially egoism for own knowledge to establish Self superiority. It is explained in spiritual Sadhana that a man can come up from all five obstacles [passion, anger, greed, feelings want] very easily by drawing divine power from the Ultimate but fails to cross the 11circles of Egoism. Many Incarnation came and they have drawn the natural power and they have given so many good things in the form of a religion.

It means that they have drawn the power but instead of giving the same power to human being, they have given the result of the power to the mankind. In short, they have also stuck at one point of ego and failed to give the proper uplift of man in real sense for Eternity. Exceptional is Ramkrishna Paramashansa who transferred the divine power to Swami Vivekananda. We will observe, all religions are in the form of instructions only but there is no doubt, they too have explained very nicely about the love for God.

Actually by astanga yoga [connection with God] is of eight steps. 1] Yam 2] Niyam 3] Asahan  4] Pranayam 5] Pratyahar 6]Drarana 7] Dhyana 8] Smadhi  [about all these eight steps Rishi Patanjali has written more elaborately which we will have in next our article]

We have come to a stage of when a jivatma becomes “Dhyatwa, Dheya, Dhyana and Gnyatwa, Gneya and Gynana” means knowing and knowledge all comes in one line as the soul [jvatma] getting linked with the Ultimate. Then the condition of the seeker [soul] comes to a state of                       “ who will think?” and “ what will think?”

Saint Sankaracharya narrated this stage as  “ Achitam Param Dhyanam” means without thought the perfect Meditation or Dhyana rather a feeling of God. The Jivatma remains in a unionized condition with Brahma. It is a state of Nirguna Brahma or Niralamba. No thought, No matter, only a feeling of Eternity remains over there even though the physical body is working for the worldly affairs. Maharshi Arvind explained this state as “Ceased from Mental Action”

In Brahma Vindu Upanishad explained about this condition as ‘ Naivya Chintam, Na Varha Chintam, Chintam Naivacha, Pakshapata Vinir Muktam, Brahmam Sampatdate Tatha “

Means no thought, no outer thought disturbance even aloof from physical body and a state of unionized or merging condition with Brahma.

Some one explained that it is a condition when a magnifying glass is taken to a point to burn the grass accumulated at a place. In the same way, the disturbed mind comes to the stage of Nirodh   in a easy way by the divine power and burns the disturbance of attachment. Then jivatma remains in peace rather we may say it is a condition of Bliss.

At the above state of Nirodh slowly the Self-confidence comes means realization of Swa- Swarup, Atma Swarup, Atma Satya or the Truth of Self. Actually it is the first two steps of Sadhan Chatusthya that is “ Vivek and Vairagnya”
